MLA’s resignation will not affect LDF in by-poll: VS

Saturday, March 10, 2012: Opposition leader and CPM stalwart V.S Achuthanandan today said that the resignation of R Selvaraj CPM MLA from Neyyattinkara would not have any impact on the prospects of the party in the Piravom Assembly by-poll.
Addressing the presspersons here on Saturday, CPM leader alleged that Government Chief whip P C George was behind the Selvaraj’s resignation. Selvaraj, who represented Neyyattinkara assembly segment in the district, had resigned from the House saying he was a victim of ‘factionalism’ in the party.
Announcing his resignation to reporters at Neyyattinkara Selvaraj said he was “forced” to take the decision after realising that he would not get “any justice or protection” from the party leadership.
