Selvaraj met Chandy before resignation, says VS
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan Friday alleged that R Selvaraj, the CPI (M) MLA from Neyyattinkara, who resigned from the Kerala Assembly, met Chief Minister Oommen Chandy early Friday morning at 0500 hrs. Talking to newspersons in Alappuzha, VS alleged that Selvaraj met the chief minister this morning before submitting his resignation. 'There is a conspiracy to defeat the CPI (M) in the Piravom bypoll for which the UDF is using money power,' he added.
Meanwhile, Speaker G Karthikeyan said he received a one-line resignation letter from Selvaraj stating that 'I, R Selvaraj, resigned from the position of Neyyatinkara MLA.' 'I accepted the MLA's resignation as he came to my official residence at 0845 hrs and tendered his resignation,' the Speaker said, adding, 'with this resignation, the Election Commission will take a decision on a bypoll in Neyyatinkara constituency.
