Google, after their success in the smartphone market, has extended their technological brilliance in the tablet market when they recently unveiled their very own brand tablet the ‘Nexus 7’ the other day.

The device though under the Google brand, is made by Asus, a Taiwanese company. Nexus 7 will be the first tablet to run Google’s latest version of Android, 4.1 ‘Jelly Bean’ that is designed to be ‘smoother, faster and more fluid’.

The 7-inch tablet will also have a front-facing camera, a 1280x800 resolution screen, and an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. All these features make it an excellent gaming [and entertainment] device with 12-core graphics processing unit. The 12-core graphics gives efficient processing power and also has extended battery life.

The tablet can be used alongside an Android powered Nexus Q device. Another feature is that the tablet can wirelessly stream films and music from Google Play to television. One can also purchase films from Sony, Paramount and Disney.

Compared to Amazon’s and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, Nexus 7 has significantly smaller screen and is also lighter to hold weighing just about 12 ounces. The tablet is also the first Android device which has Google Chrome as default option.

The Nexus 7 also features content like magazines, books and movies. Another user friendly feature of the tablet is the ‘My Library’.

It shows the home page featuring tiles with the latest content that the user is reading or watching, and a tap of the tile will make the user see the content right where he left off.

The Nexus 7 tablet is available starting Wednesday in the Google Play market, and it will begin shipping in mid- July and the first countries to get the product are US, UK, Canada and Australia.
