Land fraud involving Salim Raj: HC says CBI probe inevitable

KOCHI: A CBI probe in the Kadakampally and Kalamassery land deals involving Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s former gunman Salim Raj is inevitable, said the Kerala High Court. There are chances for the involvement of ministers or leaders from the ruling front, the court claimed.

The court verbally said this while considering the plea seeking a CBI probe as the one by the state police is not adequate. But when the CBI made clear that their probe is not necessary, the court asked what disturbs them from a probe. But the government informed that they are not against leaving it to the CBI.

The court pointed out that irregularities worth 250 crores were spotted in two places. The role of big shots should be examined.  The irregularities were conducted misusing power. 20 crores were given prior to the Kadakampally deal in the capital city. Who made the investment should be examined, directed the court.
