BJP, UDF volunteers, pelt stones at each other

KANNUR: Two BJP activists and one pedestrian suffered minor injuries in a stone pelting incident between BJP and UDF activists at the bus stand here as election campaigning draw to a close. Central forces and a Police team led by Kannur DySP J Santhosh Kumar blocked both parties to avoid a scuffle at the end of election campaigning. However, the activists hurled stones at them resulting in injury to three people. A UDF procession began at Kannur City Junction and ended at Stadium corner, while the LDF procession began at Prabath junction to end at KSRTC bus stand. BJP procession begins from S N Park and ends at Old Bus stand. The LDF procession was to pass before the old bus stand and later UDF procession when a scuffle between BJP and UDF activists ensued. Due to the timely intervention of police, a clash was averted.
