THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One more accused in the Karali Anoop murder case was arrested on Friday. The arrested person is Ambu alias Vipin Raj (23) from Muttathara Ponnara Nagar. He was arrested from his relative’s house in Vattappara.
Kochukuttan alias Vipin (30) from Thazhasseri, Appichan alias Anish Alexander (24) from Chackai, Radhakrishnan (27) from Manavanagar, Joji (24) from Kamaleswaram, Vishnu (24) from Vayyamoola, Nithin (21) from Karali, Sumeah (20) and a 17-year-old were earlier arrested in this connection.
Akhil Antony (26) , allegedly involved in the case has gone into hiding.
The police version is that Anoop had asked money from Ambu for drinking liquor at around 8 pm on Sunday near Ananthapuri hospital here. As Ambu declined the demand, Anoop picked a quarrel with him, which ended up in a serious fight. Later Ambu came with his friends to avenge the earlier incident and in the fight that ensued, Anoop was killed.
DCP Ajitha Begum is in charge of the investigation. The accused were arrested by a team comprising Shangumugham Asst Commissioner Jawahar Janarth, Pettah CI Abhilash, Vanchyoor SI Ashok Kumar, CPOs Jayakumar, Khadar and ASI Viswanathan, CPOs Shamnath, and Shibu Vinod from Shadow Police.
