THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Whoever is involved in corruption will not be protected, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Nobody should think they can blemish the image of the government by levelling baseless allegations, he said.
Briefing reporters after the weekly cabinet meet, he said allegations levelled by Biju Ramesh against Minister K Babu isnot in a good sense. These allegations are heard for the past one year. Let Biju Ramesh file a case against Babu and will look into it then. A corruption of Rs 6000 crore was levelled when the Vizhinjam project was announced. What is the logic in raising the allegation when the project is estimated to Rs 500 crore, asked Chandy?
The resignation of Minister K M Mani was not demanded, he resigned on moral grounds. I have not accepted the resignation of Thomas Unniyadan, will decide on it after holding talks with Mani.
Talks to replace Mani is on and until a person is chosen, I’ll handle the department, he said. More steps would be introduced in liquor policy, he said.
