THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bar hotel association working president Biju Ramesh has come to the fore with serious allegations against Excise Minister K Babu. An amount of Rs one crore was handed over to the minister at his office in two installments, to reduce the bar license fee, alleged Biju. If I am lying then let Babu undergo a lie detector test, he said at a press meet.
Biju said, “A total of Rs one crore was handed over to Babu in the last two years. I directly reached his office at the secretariat and gave him Rs 50 lakh each in two installments. The money was accepted by the minister’s secretary Suresh Pai and he in turn handed over the money to Babu. Evidences would be obtained if the video clippings are examined. All financial dealings of Babu are handled by Polakkulam Group led by Krishnadas Polakkulam, the sponsors of the minister. The vigilance has not registered my statement against Babu. Vigilance director Winson M Paul had directed not collect more evidences from me. Babu also tried to influence me so that the allegations will not be exposed. The minister demanded 10 crore but Rs 25 core was collected. Where has the remaining cash gone? Elegance Binoy knows everything. He collected Rs 20 lakh each from bar owners having license.”
I have not tried to settle the defamation case filed against me by the minister. The minister’s allegation that I tried to send a messenger for it is wrong. I’ll file a case against the minister this week itself, he said.
