Didn’t get justice I deserved: Mani

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Finance Minister K M Mani looked much relieved today when he faced media persons at the first full-fledged press conference, called after his resignation as minister. When asked about his comment on conspiracy angle in the bar scam, he said several individuals, politicians and pockets of power had been baying for his blood but he would not reveal their names for political reasons. “There was political conspiracy. I know who all have plotted against me. But I shall not name any one now. You can read between the lines and it is for you to do investigative journalism to find that. You should have done it much before. Anyhow I didn’t get the justice I deserved,” he told media persons, adding, that the conspiracy fact had hurt him a lot but he managed to survive the bad tidings.

He said he didn’t resign under any political duress and nobody had asked him to resign. “No party or political leader had asked me to resign. I myself resigned to show my respect towards the court. The verdict had not implicated me and its observations also would not suffice to ask for my resignation. Morally and legally I need not have resigned,” Mani said.

Reading out his achievements as minister like the success of Karunya scheme, the former minister said he had achieved job satisfaction as a minister. “My 50 years of political career was transparent and clean. But in politics, one should be ready to receive brickbats. I would continue my political career as long as the people of Pala and Kerala at large, want me. God and people will protect me,” Mani added.
