THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister K M Mani has finally expressed his willingness to resign in the bar bribery case. He informed his stand at the steering committee meet of the Kerala Congress (M) held here today. Though Mani was first reluctant to step down, the leaders briefed him the seriousness of the court’s observations. Following that, he expressed his willingness to resign.
A section owing allegiance to Minister P J Joseph sought his resignation. However, Chief Whip Thomas Unniyadan and Francis George were against it. Both said the court had not found him guilty in the case. However, a section favouring P S George too demanded his resignation. He had to budge following pressure. It is hinted that the meet came down heavily on the congress. Criticisms were showered at T N Prathapan also.
