Take back suspended Farooq College student: HC

KOCHI: The HC has today stayed for a month a college management order suspending one of its students, who was suspended for allegedly speaking out against ‘sex discrimination’. The court has also asked the management to take back the student as early as possible.

The college had suspended BA sociology first year student Dhinu. Certain students including Dhinu had sat on the bench with girl students, following which the teacher asked Dhinu to go out of the class. Though Dhinu and other students gave a complaint to the Principal against the teacher’s action, the principle asked them to bring their parents to the college and tender an apology in writing, after which they could enter the class. But Dhinu was not ready for that and he moved the high court thereafter.
After this incident, several leaders from political and cultural field came out to protest against the incident.
