In a report handed over to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, DGP informed
that the ACP had used his service revolver as per the rules. The
protest in Kozhikode had created a situation that warranted police
firing, the report said.

Thursday, October 13, 2011: Justifying the Kozhikode police action
on SFI activists, Director-General of Police (DGP) Jacob Punnoose today
opined that Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Radhakrishna Pillai
had opened fire in order to prevent further violence.
