KAZHAKOOTTAM: A diamond necklace worth Rs 2 lakh, gold and cash have been stolen from the house of a hotel owner at Karyavattom. The theft took place at the house of Cyril Thomas, owner of Ethnic Food Court near Ayyappa Temple in Karyavattom.
The incident happened early Saturday morning. The theft was noticed when the house was examined after finding the back door of his kitchen opened. The burglars decamped with a diamond necklace, a pair of earrings, four chains and Rs 15,000 from the almirah kept in the bedroom. The theft is likely to have happened between 4 and 6 am. A police led by Kazhakoottam sun inspector Sreejith have started an investigation.
A dog squad and finger print experts will collect more details from the spot. A theft attempt was reported from the houses nearby also.

Gold, cash stolen from house
ALUVA: A major theft has been reported in Aluva. 300 sovereigns of gold and cash of Rs 2 lakhs were stolen from a house in Aluva. The incident happened at the house of Ismail, native of Aluva, last night. The inmates of the house were in the hospital at the time of the incident.
The gold kept in the locker was stolen. Two rolex watches worth Rs 5 lakhs and a LED TV were stolen. The theft was noticed when the inmates came back home. Finger print experts reached the spot and the police have started investigation.

Gold, cameras stolen from former DGP’s house
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thieves entered the house of former DGP Ramesh Chandrabhanu’s house at Pattoor in the capital city and decamped with two gold studs and three cameras. The theft is suspected to have taken place after 12 pm as the family was watching TV till midnight.
They entered the house after cutting the iron rods of the window. The family was sleeping upstairs and as it was raining heavily they didn’t hear any sound. They came to know about the incident only early morning. The Pettah police will investigate the case.
Gold, cash looted from bank in Pathanamthitta
Monday, August 22, 2011: A major robbery was reported at the Mezhuvelli service co-operative Bank at Pathanamthitta here on Monday. The bank locker was found broken and jewellery worth Rs 2 crore was looted, according to initial reports. The robbery took place on Sunday night.
Thieves broke open the rear door with a gas cutter. The attendar who reached the bank today the morning reported about the theft. Finger print experts and police have started a detailed investigation into the incident.
