Diamond necklace, gold, cash stolen

KAZHAKOOTTAM: A diamond necklace worth Rs 2 lakh, gold and cash have been stolen from the house of a hotel owner at Karyavattom. The theft took place at the house of Cyril Thomas, owner of Ethnic Food Court near Ayyappa Temple in Karyavattom.

The incident happened early Saturday morning. The theft was noticed when the house was examined after finding the back door of his kitchen opened. The burglars decamped with a diamond necklace, a pair of earrings, four chains and Rs 15,000 from the almirah kept in the bedroom. The theft is likely to have happened between 4 and 6 am. A police led by Kazhakoottam sun inspector Sreejith have started an investigation.

A dog squad and finger print experts will collect more details from the spot. A theft attempt was reported from the houses nearby also.

Murali's gold chain, cash stolen

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A gold chain and purse of K Muraleedharan MLA were stolen while he was travelling on train from Thrissur to Thiruvananthapuram. The chain weighed 5 sovereign and the purse had Rs 5000.

The Railway police started probing the robbery after the MLA lodged a complaint with them. 

Muraleedharan was on board an AC compartment of Rapthi Sagar Express.Before he went to sleep he kept his chain and purse on the stand near his seat. When the train reached Shasthamkotta, he found both his chain and purse missing.
