New Delhi: Former Commonwealth Games (CWG) Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Monday for allowing and in some cases inducing corruption in the Commonwealth Games that were held in India in October last year.Mr Kalmadi served as the Chairman of the Organising Committee that has been drenched in corruption charges. Team Kalmadi was allegedly in the habit of handing out contracts to firms that provided equipment or services at exorbitant rates; reasonable bids from other firms were allegedly ignored.

സുരേഷ് കല്‍മാടി ഒരു തെമ്മാടി ആയതില്‍ ദൂഖമുണ്ട്. നമ്മുടെ രാഷ്ട്രീയക്കാര്‍ പൊതുവെ അഴിമതിക്കാരായി മാറ്റപ്പെടുന്നതെന്തു കൊണ്ടെന്ന ചിന്ത നമ്മുടെ സമൂത്തിന് അത്യന്താപേക്ഷിതമാണ്. ഏറെപ്പണം ഉള്ളവര്‍ പോലും കയ്യിട്ടു വാരുന്ന കാഴ്ച. എന്തേ നമുക്ക് പറ്റിയത്....? കടുത്ത ശിക്ഷ, നിയമപരമായും ജനകീയമായും വന്നെങ്കില്‍ മാത്രമേ ഈ പ്രവണതയ്ക്കറുതി വരുകയുള്ളു. എന്തിനേയും ന്യായീകരിക്കുന്ന കൂട്ടത്തേയും നിരാകരിക്കുകയും, തകര്‍ക്കുകയും വേണം. ഇത്തരക്കാരോട് ഒരു സഹാനുഭൂതിയും പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കുമെങ്കില്‍ ചെറിയ മാറ്റമെങ്കിലും ഭാവിയില്‍ സമൂഹത്തിലുണ്ടാകും.
