Kozhikode MCH nurses call off strike

Thursday, January 05, 2012: The strike called by the 120 odd nurses at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital (MCH) as a protest against the incident in which one of the hospital staff was roughed up by a patient’s relative on Wednesday night, has been called off.
The strike has been called off as per the assurance given by the police that they would take necessary action against the offenders involved in the incident.
The functioning of the hospital was partially affected today due to the strike. Work in almost all departments, particularly the casualty wing, was affected to some extent as the service of nurses was essential for the functioning of the medical college hospital.
According to the hospital authorities one of the nurses was manhandled by one of the bystanders for not collecting the blood sample from the patient.
