Vigilance probe sought against board president


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A member of the Travancore Devaswom Board sent a letter to the state government seeking a probe on the illegal appointment of teachers in colleges coming under the board. A congress member of the board K V Padmanabhan sought a vigilance probe against board president Rajagopalan Nair and RSP member Sicily.


The appointment of teachers in Sasthamcotta, Thalayolapparambu and Parumala colleges created a controversy. There were 12 vacancies in Malayalam, English, Chemistry and bio-chemistry subjects.


Applications were invited for six posts which would be vacant after six months. Teachers were selected without a written test and mainly on interview basis. In the interviews conducted so far, board president was the interview board chairman. But, this time a board convened by former excise minister P K Gurudasan’s private secretary and devaswom commissioner N Vasu conducted the interviews.
