Standard of education going down in Kerala: HC

The Kerala High Court on Tuesday observed that the standard of education was going down in the state mainly due to the increase in number of self-financing institutions.
It said the educational institutions under the self-financing sector were multiplying haphazardly. In order to get things in order, government and other authorities and courts should take adequate steps, Justice S Sirijagan said. He made the observations while considering a batch of petitions seeking revaluation of answer papers of different universities in the state.
The court laid down guidelines for the revaluations and directed the universities to strictly comply with it. Reducing the time limit for submitting re-valuation applications to 15 days from publication of results and uploading of marks scored by each student subject wise in the university website are among the guidelines. The court also urged universities to increase the number of sections and staff for re-valuation.
