Monday, January 23, 2012: Kerala, in its quest for a 15th straight overall title, climbed to the top of the medals tally with a haul of 25 gold medals on the fifth day of the National school athletic meet at the Guru Nanak stadium in Ludhiana on Monday.
Maria James bagged gold for Kerala in the junior girl’s pole vault event on Monday. It could have been a far better outing for Kerala but for the extreme cold conditions which prevailed all through the day and came in the way of its athletes from performing at their best.
