Supreme Court grants bail to Santhosh Madhavan

Wednesday, January 4, 2012: The Supreme Court today granted conditional bail to fake godman Santhosh Madhavan, who was awarded eight years rigorous imprisonment in connection with as many as six cases relating to sexual harassment and rape of minor girls.
He was granted bail on a bond of Rs 50,000. The court has directed to surrender his passport in the police station and asked him to appear in the station on all Mondays. He sought bail citing health problems.
Santhosh Madhavan was arrested on May 13, 2008 on a complaint lodged by a Dubai-based Keralite woman. In her complaint, she had alleged that Santhosh had cheated her of Rs.40 lakh. Further investigation by the police had revealed his involvement in the harassment and rape of minor girls. During the trial, the judge has viewed video cassettes seized from Santhosh.
