Newspaper agents temporarily call off strike


Kochi, Wednesday, April 25, 2012: Protesting newspaper agents on Wednesday agreed to temporarily end their strike, which lasted for over a month.
This was decided after negotiations in the the mediation hall of Kerala High Court here.
The mediation will continue as differences still persist on certain other issues.
The strike had been sponsored by unions affiliated to CPI-M’s trade union wing CITU demanding a hefty hike in the agents’ commission.
The agents demanded 50 per cent of the cover price of a daily as their commission and additional service charge for pull-outs and supplements.
