Kayamkulam: Woman held for abandoning infant

 Tuesday, May 15, 2012: A 35-year-old woman was taken into custody for allegedly abandoning her new born baby near Muslim Jama’ath mosque in Kuttitheruvu on Monday morning.
The woman hailing from Murikkummoodu, admitted to the police that she had given birth to the child on May 11. The people who came for morning prayers at the mosque heard cries of a baby and after a search found the baby wrapped in a saffron lungi nearby.
The suspect was directed to have a medical test at a hospital to obtain scientific proof of her delivery.
