Court issues warrant against two Italian marines


 Thursday, May 31, 2012: The Kollam sessions Court has today issued warrants against Latore Massimilliano and Salvatore Girone- the two Italian marines, who allegedly shot dead two Indian fishermen off the state coast on February 15.
Sessions Judge PD Rajan has issued a production warrant directing the police to produce the two Italian marines before Court. The warrant was issued prior to the case trail proceedings which begins on Saturday.
Meanwhile the Kerala High Court had granted bail to the marines and asked them deposit Rs 1 crore as personal bond. The Court also asked two Indians to stand as surety for the Italian marines.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Kerala High Court had dismissed a petition by the Italian Government seeking quashing of the FIR against the two marines. The two marines were arrested on Feb 19 are in judicial custody and lodged at the Borstal school here which houses juvenile delinquents.
They have been charged with murder of fishermen Valentine alias Jalestine and Ajesh Binki, who had put out to sea from the Needakara coast in Kollam, by firing at them from onboard the merchant ship whose authorities have maintained that the marines mistook the fishermen for pirates.
