Many vehicle owners set to lose their cool

KOCHI: The Supreme Court’s ban on tinted glass beyond permissible limits has evoked mixed response from the public. Though most of them welcomed the order, some felt that it would affect their privacy. The people are also confused with the percentage of films that could be coated.
Many were seen at car accessories shop for removing the films. From the morning itself, the shops were doing a brisk business.
Baburaj from Kaloor says the film on the glasses gives a cooling effect to the passengers and hence it would be unbearable to travel in the car without the film if the ban is imposed. “Without the films, it would be a bit too hard to travel in the cars in summer,” he said.
Even though the police officials had said that no fine would be imposed on the people for removing the films, they do not want to take it for granted. Firoz Najeeb, working with a software company, said the police may say so but they are just waiting for some loopholes to impose fine. However, he agreed that the ban on tinted glass was needed in the wake of increasing crimes in the city.
The public have also no clue about how the police and the Motor Vehicles Department are going to implement the order effectively.
