Mullappally visits T.P Chandrasekharan’s residence

Thursday, May 17, 2012: The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran on Thursday morning visited the house of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T.P Chandrasekharan, who was brutally hacked to death near Vadakara on May 4.
His visit is in the backdrop after the Special Investigation Team arrested some CPM local members in connection with the sensational murder. Mullappally was the first person to allege that CPM activists were behind the cold blooded homicide.
Meanwhile the five accused in the Chandrasekharan murder case were presented before the Kunnamangalam Court here amidst tight police protection.
Those arrested have been identified as Deepu, Lambu Pradeep, Anandamveettil Rejith, Kuttu alias Ramish and CPM Orkkattery local committee member Padayankandi Raveendran, 47.
Padayankandi Raveendran has been sent to police custody for 14 days meanwhile the rest were sent to 4 days police custody.
Kunnummakkara local committee member of CPM, K.C. Ramachandran who allegedly colluded with the assassins in the murder, also is under interrogation.
He allegedly assisted the assassins to hire the vehicle and handed over Rs 38,000 for the purpose, police said.
According to the police the five accused have close connection with Kodi Suni and Rafeek, the two main accused in the murder case.
The key suspect Kodi Suni, who was in the jail serving sentence in a murder case, was released last month. Rafeek is also involved in some 29 cases, including murder.
According to police sources, Kodi Suni and Rafeek are professional goons, who commit murders for money. T.P. Chandrasekharan, 51, was killed in Onchiyam near here Friday night while returning home on a two-wheeler.
Chandrasekharan, once a prominent CPI(M) leader in the party stronghold Onjiyam in Kozhikode district, was expelled a few years ago after he fell out with the leadership. He later joined the RMP floated by CPI(M) rebels and wrested control of Onjiyam village panchayat, ending decades-old rule of the CPI(M).
