CBI probe sought into death of judge: Alappuzha

Various Dalit organisations have demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of Alappuzha district judge P K Baburaj. They alleged that Baburaj was found dead in suspicious circumstances.  The Action Council formed by these organisations alleged that Baburaj was the victim of caste-related harassments that was taking place against higher officials belonging to the Dalit community.

Action Council chairman K Ambujakshan told reporters here on Friday that the death of Baburaj had created panic among the Dalit community.

The decision to cremate the body of Baburaj despite the plea that it should be brought to his native place was dubious.

The cremation was held in the presence of higher officials of the judiciary.

There was a hurry from some quarters to ensure that his body was cremated even before his family members were able to reach the place of his death.

This has added to the suspicion of foul play behind the death,he said.
