KOCHI: The Kerala High Court said there is no obstacle in releasing Blessy’s Kalimannu, a film embroiled in controversies. The court passed the order after rejecting a plea of Mada Swamy, a native of Idukki Peerumedu, requesting to stop the release of the film.
Rejecting the plea, the court said there are no scenes in the film insulting womanhood or motherhood. The film is not insulting anybody’s fundamental rights. The court said the censor board consisting of five women saw the film.
The government had earlier informed the court that Shweta Menon playing the lead role acted in the film on her own choice.
Allegations were leveled that Shweta Menon’s delivery scenes were included in the film. Many including Speaker G Karthikeyan were against it.
