KOCHI: UDF Convener P P Thankachan Thursday said the high command will take a decision on appointing the new KPCC President, following elevation of Ramesh Chennithals as the new home minister of the state.
Talking to reporters here, he said there would not be any regional or factional consideration for selection of new KPCC President and the High Command would take an appropriate decision in this regard.
Thankachan said the induction of Chennithala in to the cabinet as Home Minister would help to face the ensuing elections to the Lok Sabha with more confidence and the result would also be very positive.
Replying to a question about Kerala Congress (B) nominee and former Forest Minister K B Ganesh Kumar, who was forced to quit the portfolio following a case against him, to give back his ministership, Thankachan said an appropriate decision in this regard would be taken after the Lok Sabha elections.
However, the convenor indicated that the number of ministership would not be increased and one of the ministers would be pulled out by the Congress.
Admitting that the frequent price hike of essential commodities was an unfortunate phenomenon, he said necessary provisions could be expect in the coming state budget to check the price hike of commodities.
Asked about the reaction of the UDF about the recent hike of LPG gas, he said no government at the centre had ever introduced and provided that much benefits to the people.
Asked whether the UDF coalition partners had demanded more seats in the coming Lok Sabba elections, he said discussions in this regard had not been taken. Every party had their own freedom to ask more seats and a final decision in this regard would be taken collectively.
