KOCHI: The news circulating in the social media that the presence of Nipah virus has been confirmed on the patient admitted in a private hospital in Ernakulam, is totally baseless, said district collector Mohammed Y Safirulla.
Some online sites carried that the virus was confirmed on the youth, native of Paravoor in Kochi, admitted in the hospital. Following it, the collector came with an explanation.
The collector said that it is part of procedures to conduct more tests to confirm if symptoms of Nipah are found in patients coming with fever. There is nothing to panic, he said.
If the presence of Nipah is confirmed based on tests, the district administration will issue it officially and precautionary measures will be taken. The collector requested not to panic.
