THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The district panchayat has announced awards for grama panchayats which have registered good spending of its Plan Fund last fiscal. The Peringadavila grama panchayat has come first among panchayats with a spending of 99.26 per cent, District Panchayat president Remani P Nair said at a press meet here on Tuesday.
The Pallichal and Vellarada grama panchayats follow close behind, with an expenditure figure of 99.15 and 98.31 per cent respectively. As many as eight grama panchayats, out of the total 73, had shown some backwardness in spending, the District Planning Committee had observed on Monday. Among the block panchayats, Athiyanoor registered 99.41 per cent spending and came up in the first position. Chirayinkeezh registered 94.3 per cent and Kilimanoor 85.6 per cent respectively.
The District Panchayat will launch its innovative project of mobile dialysis unit for the poor at a function to be held on the Secretariat premises on Wednesday at 1 pm.
