KOCHI: At least 10 per cent of KSRTC daily bus services in the district are skipped due to the shortage of bus drivers and conductors, revealed the statistics with KSRTC Ernakulam region.
According to the officials, the decision to skip services often takes place only after considering many details.
“We are doing our best to prevent problems for the people but at times, we cannot help it. Sometimes, we are forced to overwork the present staff,” the official added.
At present, the majority of the staff are being forced to work for at least 54 hours every week when they have been allotted only 27 hours of work.
“A major crunch is felt during Monday and Tuesday which is when we have maximum passengers using the service,” he said.
