Neyyattinkara bypolls on June 2
NEW DELHI: The Neyyattinkara by election would be held on June 2. Counting of votes would take place on June 15. The election commission would release the notification on May 9.
Nominations can be filed from May 9 till 16. Scrutiny would take place on May 17 and May 19 would be the last date for withdrawal.
With the announcement of dates, the model code of conduct has come into force.
The election is to be held after CPM MLA R Selvaraj resigned in the name of factionalism. Selvaraj, who left the party, is the UDF candidate in Neyyattinkara. F Lawrence and O Rajagopal are the LDF and BJP candidates.
UDF is facing polls with full confidence after their thumping majority in Piravom. In the meantime, the LDF is trying all their best to win the polls.
