SC slams State on ordinance against court verdicts


Friday, April 13, 2012: The Supreme Court said Kerala tops in passing ordinances against court verdicts. The SC said that the state is trying to defy court verdicts by bringing in new rules.
The court also observed that India is the only country giving permission to break laws. The Supreme Court made the statement while criticizing government’s action of bringing an ordinance against the high court verdicts banning public meetings on road sides.
The Kerala Assembly had passed an ordinance against the high court verdict banning public meetings on road sides.
The state government approached the Supreme Court after the division bench of the court imposed a stay on the ordinance. The court harshly criticized the state while considering their plea.
