Three to mediate on Vilappilsala issue
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: To solve the standoff over the reopening of the garbage treatment plant in Vilappilsala Panchayat here, three state ministers were asked to mediate with the panchayat authorities for taking further actions. Briefing on cabinet decisions here, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said Urban Affairs Development Minister Manjalamkuzhy Ali, Panchayat Minister Dr MK Muneer and Health Minister V S Sivakumar were asked to mediate on the issue to find an amicable solution. The Supreme Court issued a direction while rejecting a special leave petition filed by the Vilappilsala Panchayat challenging the Kerala High Court order providing police protection for resuming garbage movement from the capital city to the waste treatment plant in the Panchayat.
