Tanker explosion: Divider to be demolished, says Chandy


KANNUR: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the divider which led to the tanker lorry explosion in the district will be demolished on Wednesday. A suitable decision to replace it will be taken after holding talks with the PWD, he said. Talking to reporters after visiting the site, he said an amount of Rs 10 lakhs would be given to the family of Sreelatha, who died of severe burns. Rs 10,000 would be given as emergency relief.

Rs 5 lakhs would be given to seriously injured and 2 lakhs to those with minor injuries.

Chandy asked Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) to give compensation to the family of the dead and the injured.
