Today Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 158th birthday of renowned philosopher and social reformer of modern Kerala, Sree Narayana Guru, will be celebrated on Friday. The birthday of this great saint is celebrated on the Chathayam asterism of the Malayalam month of Chingam (Leo) which falls on Friday.

Communal harmony processions, conferences, community prayers, and floral tributes feasts will be held. The Guru pujas will be organized under the aegis of Sree Narayana organizations in and around the world.

Special pujas, community prayers and community feast will be held at Chempazhanthy Gurukula in Thiruvananthapuram district where Guru was born. Communal harmony procession will be inaugurated by minister Shibu Baby John. BJP leader O. Rajagopal will be the chief guest. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the Jayanthi Mahasammelanam (conference) at 6.30 pm in Chemapzhanthy. The function will be presided over by the president of Sivagiri Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust, Swami Prakashananda. Minister V.S. Sivakumar, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, A. Sampath MP and M.A. Waheed MLA will deliver speeches.
