Paravoor assault case: Seven years RI for father

KOCHI: The court awarded seven years rigorous imprisonment to the first accused Sudheer, father of the minor raped in the second case in Paravoor sex scandal, third accused and film producer Janatha Vijayan and also slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 each.

Fourth and fifth accused Unnikrishnan and Soby Sugunan get ten years RI and imposed a fine of Rs 75,000 each.

The court acquitted the girl’s mother Subaida and production executive Biju.

The girl was sexually assaulted in a private resort in Varkala in February 2010. Sudheer has been charged for offences like rape and abduction.

Sudheer was awarded rigorous life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 in the first case in connection with Paravoor assault.
