Father held for sexually abusing daughter

THRISSUR: Police arrested a 49-year-old man for allegedly sexually abusing his minor daughter at Venkidangu, near Guruvayoor. According to police, the accused, identified as Jamal, was produced before the Chavakkad Munsif Court. Pavarty police registered a case following a complaint by the mother of the girl. The woman in her complaint stated that her daughter and husband were missing since January 19, station SI M K Ramesh, who investigated the case, told UNI. However, on interrogation of the mother, it was revealed that the victim was impregnated by her father, he added. Following information that Jamal and his daughter were leaving for Hyderabad along with their relative, police took him into custody. In the meanwhile, the 15-year-old girl delivered a baby. The sources also said the accused had married thrice and the victim was to his third wife. Police have registered a case under section 376, 317 and 12(b) for abusing the minor, the sources added.
