THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a recorded statement, Kazhakoottam native Serina Shaji admit to having smuggled 50 kilograms of gold via Thiruvananthapuram International Airport several times.
As per the statement, 2000 dirhams and a ticket will be given, for each smuggling assignment. Advocate Biju, who is also a native, introduced Serina to other culprits. Biju introduced her to Jithu, who gave 24 kilos of gold in Dubai which was handed over to Thiruvananthapuram native Sunil Kumar, the statement clarifies.
The gold was smuggled after paying duty. Serina had a direction to help Sunilkumar in case he gets caught. Biju’s wife smuggled 20 kilos of gold via Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. According to the statement, there are other smugglers who are contacts of Biju.
