Attack on party offices flayed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala condemned the attacks carried out by the CPI (M) against Congress activists and party offices during the hartal. Chennithala said Congress offices and activists were subjected to premeditated attacks in several places, including Kannur, in the pretext of the hartal. Terming such violent actions by the CPI (M) was unprecedented.


Chennithala said CPI (M) leaders should take recourse to legal measures instead of indulging in violence. The party’s Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan was arrested in connection with the Shukkoor murder case at the end of a detailed and scientific investigation process. The most significant thing about the incident was that Shukkoor was murdered in the full view of over 200 persons, but investigators found it difficult to get an eyewitness to the murder, which was brutal and carried out at Pattuvam, a party village, with the knowledge of the CPI (M) leadership.
