Body of mishap victim found

KANNUR: The body of P Irfan, who was killed in an accident four days ago, was recovered from the banks of River Madambam near Thumbeni under Sreekandapuram Police Limits. Police said some locals found the body on the river banks and informed the police. On August 12 Irfan was driving the car with three of his relatives when it hit an electric post and rolled down into the river. While his relatives swam to safety, Irfan drowned and his body could not be recovered despite the best efforts of National Disaster Response Team, Coast Guard, Fire Force and even the locals. The locals found the body washed ashore and informed the police who sent the body to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. A six-member naval diver team from Kochi also managed to recover the ill-fated car driven by Irfan.
