Contract killing not the legacy of CPI, says Pannyan Raveendran

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI state secretary Pannyan Raveendran retaliated to Pinarayi Vijayan’s allegation that CPI members had murdered CPM activists with the remark that premeditated and contract killings are not the legacy of CPI.

Vijayan had earlier said that CPI should remember the violence committed during the party split and how they had murdered CPM activists. He alleged CPI to be behind the murders of Balakrishnan and Sudheendran and assault on Anthikkad Subramanian and Vaikkom Vishwan.

Pannyan Raveendran said that he finds it unnecessary to give a reply to Pinarayi’s comments. He affirmed that the public knows about the party and will never believe the rumours spread against it. Killing has never been in the agenda of CPM, he added.

CPI leader Kanam Rajendran said that the party will give replies if criticised. He said that there had been deaths of CPI members during the party split which was not by the hands of foes. The reason behind it shall be brought to light when the need arises, he added.
