CPI (M) condemns govt decision to dissolve inquiry team

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI (M) state Secretariat strongly condemned the government's decision to dissolve the vigilance inquiry team, constituted to probe into irregularities in the implementation of diesel thermal power plant at Brahmapuram. The party secretariat alleged that the decision would come in the way of submitting a charge sheet in the vigilance case in which former electricity minister C V Padmarajan was named as the fifth accused.

Seeking the Centre's help in the case, the vigilance informed the Centre that Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) had incurred a loss of Rs six crore due to irregularities in the implementation of Diesel thermal power plant at Brahmapuram. It was alleged that the KSEB signed a deal with French company Cemet Pilestick, without getting the approval of the Cabinet. However, the same company had supplied similar equipment at a lesser price to Karnataka.
