KR Gowri Amma bags Sahitya Academy award for her autobiography


Thursday, Aug 2, 2012: Janathipathiya Samrakshana Samithy (JSS) leader KR Gowri Amma’s autobiography ‘Aatmakatha—K.R. Gowri Amma’ has won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for best autobiography. The award carries Rs 25,000, citation and a plaque.


Writer Subhash Chandran’s ‘Manushyanu Oru Aamukham’ has been selected as the best novel. The award for best poetry collection goes to Kureepuzha Sreekumar’s Keezhalan. U.K. Kumaran’s ‘Policukarante Penmakkal’ bagged the award for best short story collection.


Balasubrahmanian and B. Rajeevan got the awards for drama and literary criticism respectively. The award for best translation is for K.B. Prasanna Kumar. Other awards are: T.N. Gopakumar (travelogue); Lalithambika (humour); L.S. Rajagopalan (scholarly literature); K. Radhakrishnan (Children’s literature).


The awards and fellowships will be presented the annual function of Academy.
