Quits CPM

KOCHI: Three months after the brutal murder of T P Chandrasekharan, K Madhavan, father-in-law of the slain RMP leader, has decided to call it a day from the CPM. 74-year-old Madhavan, a member of the CPM Balussery area committee, revealed his decision to quit the CPM in an interview with the Magazine Samakalika Malayalam Varika. Bitter experiences have prompted me to take this decision, he said in the interview. He said that the stand adopted by the central leadership of the party disappointed him. “I wrote to general secretary Prakash Karat thrice, both in English and Malayalam. I also spoke to Prakash over the phone for about 15 minutes. I expected that he would issue at least a statement condemning the murder. But instead of that, he has justified those who are believed to have committed the crime, says Madhavan.
