Madhani shifted to Manipal Hospital

BANGALORE: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Abdul Nasser Madhani, arrested in connection with the 2008 serial bomb blast in the city in which a woman was killed and 22 others sustained injuries, was shifted to Manipal Hospital from a private Hospital.

Madhani had been suffering from multiple ailments, including diabetes and blood pressure and was shifted to the super specialty hospital as his health did not show any improvement, police said. The Karnataka High Court had permitted him to be admitted in a hospital of his choice at his own expense. He was first admitted to Soukya Hospital a few days back and today he was shifted to Manipal Hospital, sources said.

Heavy bandobust has been made in the Manipal Hospital by deploying police force near his room and hospital. Madhani was arrested by Bangalore Police on August 17, 2008, from Kerala. Even Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who was in the city recently, had met Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar to allow Madhani to have proper medical treatment since he was ailing from multiple ailments.
