Major gold heist in Thiruvananthapuram


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  In a major burglary, 130 sovereigns of gold were stolen from the house of the owner of Variety Fancy Centre in Statue. The house owned by John is located near Thampuranmukku in Pattoor. The inmates of the house came to know about the incident only Wednesday morning.

John, his wife Stella John, children Johnsy, Rejina John and daughter in law Deepthi John were in the house. Only the gold kept in Deepthi’s room were stolen.

Initial reports say the burglars entered the house through the kitchen door. The house was fixed with latest security facilities but it was not functional.

The doors of the house were locked. Remains of food items were seen in front of the house and in front of the dog’s kennel for the past few days.

On Monday, the house of an NRI was burgled. A Mitsubhishi Outlander, an expensive laptop, two mobile phones, a ring and some cash were stolen from the house in Pattom-Marappalam Road.
