Chennithala may become Deputy Chief Minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ending the infighting within the Congress party in Kerala over the issue of offering portfolio to KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala, a consensus have been reached on Tuesday night after Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala held talks at KPCC Office here.

Chennithala is likely to be offered Deputy CM post along with a department other than Home Ministry, most probably revenue.

However, decision was not taken on whether the Chief Minister will take over Home Ministry from Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.

The decision to hand over Deputy CM post to Chennithala would be discussed with Congress High Command and constituent parties.

The ultimate decision is to be taken by High Command.

While Chandy did not want to take away Home Ministry from Thiruvanchoor, Chennithala disagreed with it.

The talks began at 9 pm and continued till 9.20.
