Self-financing colleges increase fees


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The self-financing medical colleges in the state increased their fees on Monday after it gave the nod from state government. Rs. 15000 has been increased for the merit seat, Rs. 50,000 for management seat and Rs. 1 lakh for NRI seat.

The decision to grant permission for increasing the fees was taken at the talks held between the college managements and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Ministers V.S. Sivakumar and Aryadan Muhammed.

The existing fee (Rs. 20,000) imposed on BPL students in merit seats will not be increased.  

Thus, the new fee for merit seat is Rs. 1,65,000 which was Rs. 1,50,000 earlier. Fee for management seat is now Rs 7 lakh (earlier Rs. 6.5 lakh); fee for NRI seat is Rs 10.5 lakh (earlier Rs. 9.5 lakh).
