Women spotted with Sreesanth at time of arrest, says police

MUMBAI: The Delhi police Friday said women were with Sreesanth at the time of his arrest in connection with IPL spot fixing case. Sreesanth and his Keralite friend Jiju Janardhanan were arrested from their friend’s house in Mumbai early Thursday morning.

City police commission Neeraj Kumar said two women were with the cricketer at the time of his arrest but they were not arrested. The police said usually underwood dons use women for spot fixing.

The Indian Cricket Control Board (BCCI) has suspended the three players arrested. The three will not be allowed to play in the rest of the IPL matches.

The future of the three will be decided by the BCCI and the ICC. Most probably, a  life ban will be imposed on him.

In the meantime, Sreesanth’s parents and relatives have left for New Delhi. The cricketer’s counsel Deepak Prakash said the police have not been able to produce valid proofs against him. If permission is granted, will meet him and the case will be dealt legally. A bail plea will be submitted tomorrow, the advocate said.

The cricketer’s brother said he has not done anything wrong. All these are efforts to spoil his career.
